Is cable both power and data? by
micky
I have a Y-shaped USB cable, 18" long, with type A at one end and the
two previously most common mini's at the other end, the one that used to
be used for cell phones and the other slightly bigger one.
All 3 ends have the USB logo in the plastic.
Doesn't that mean it's both power and data? ...

Odd PSU problem by
philo
Had a power supply die, so I replaced it with a used one I had that I
had marked "good."
It booted to the bios and I just set if for default but it never loaded
the OS. It just returned to the bios.
HD was detected and set for first boot option.
Though I was sure I had a legacy Win10 install,...

Nothing makes sense:
1. Given a 16GB pagefile.sys size, why is my BSOD crash log only 2GB?
2. Why does the command line report "complete" but the GUI "active"?

Replace ethernet cables with POF backbone on home Powerline ? by
x13
John,
I was being myopic in my last post.
My idea was just to speed things up. But of course by using a POF cable I would be bypassing the electrical wiring in the walls thereby defeating the whole purpose of Powerline. I could of course run a POF cable in the walls but that's a *really* tedious...

Q: Replace ethernet cables with POF backbone on home Powerline? by
x13
Hi all.
I regularly transfer many large files to/from my media device (like a mini NAS) two rooms away. Though this box has both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity, neither provide a satisfactory throughput. So I caved and installed a pair of Devolo Magic LAN 2 Powerline adapters. Sure there's a lot...

Aging Asus g73sw-xt1 Laptop:
After having disassembled the unit, I made many repairs including
resoldering the AC-Adapter pin. Then I reinstalled the mobo and fans in

Old hard drive resale prices by
Percival P. Cassidy
I was going through my stash of pensioned-off hard drives today and out
of curiosity looked at the prices they are getting on eBay (not the
asking prices but the completed-sale prices).
E.g., $157.19 for a pre-owned Seagate 500GB ST3500320AS!!
$50.50 for a circuit board for an ST500630AS...
