Emulating a processor by
Gromer
Hi all,
I'm interested to understand the processor architecture in depth. So i
decided on emulating the processor itself (as my project). The best one
to start would be 386.
So i wud require some documents which explains on how to emulate any
processor or devices. ( Apart from the Intel...

Intel price hikes coming? by
Yousuf Khan
These are just some rumours from some stock talk groups and other sites, but
if they're true, they will obviously necessitate readjusting your next
computer buying decisions:

Northword vs Prescott by
Alan Walpool
Hi,
Why does the northwood cost more than the prescott for the same speed
chip? I thought the northwood would be cheaper since this is the older
slower chip.
Whatever. Just curious why a older chip costs more than the newer
chip.
Thanks,

Intel embarrassed by own report by
Yousuf Khan
One of Intel's researchers published a whitepaper concluding that the
smaller chips get, the more errors they will be susceptible to. That
however does make the pursuit of Moore's Law questionable. Also makes
Intel's bragging to the press that it's months ahead of the competition
in moving to 65-nm...

Dual-core recommendation: AMD or Intel ??? by
John Sasso
I am shopping around for a dual-core system and having been pouring
through reviews and benchmarks of the AMD and Intel dual-core
processors. I intend on putting 2GB RAM on the system. I need a
high-performing system to primarily do the following:
* Dual-boot into Linux 2.6 kernel (perhaps...

Centrino Vs P4 by
toby
I have a Centrino Laptop with a Intel Pentium M 2.13G processor. Although I
am 100% hapy with the machine in performance and storage, I keep getting
asked how it compares with a P4 or AMD setup.
I cant seem to find any comparason sites. I know CPU speed isn't the be all

Apple using Intel processors by

Here's a rumour that's as old as the hills rivalling the "Dell will use

This time the Wall Street Journal is propagating the rumour.

Has anyone built a PC using this motherboard? I'd just like to compare
specs. and ask a few questions regarding fan selection, out of the
newsgroups if possible. Thanks.

When will 90nm technology be "ready for prime time"? by
AJ
Intel admits that 90nm technology has problems (heat production from
current leakage). Will 90nm chips ever run as cool as 130nm chips?
Do you think the marketing folks at Intel sat around and decided that
more heat at this juncture is an asset since it is the only way to sell
the otherwise...

Hyperthreaded vs 2 processors by

How do you determine whether a system has 2 processors or 1 hyperthreaded
processor?
I have to administer a system that is installed remotely, and so I can't
actually open it. No one is there to open it and tell me. I need to figure
out if it has 2 processors or not, as the system info shows 2...

Intel p4 retail heatsink by
Max Coppin
I'm about to re-attach my heatsink to my CPU and have just started to clean
them up. On the bottom of the heatsink is a metal pad that did have a thick
black substance on it that I've cleaned off (and off the CPU). Should I
remove the metal sticker-type thing on the heatsink or leave it on there?...

pushed back to H2 2004. There's no mention whether Windows XP for AMD64 has
also been similarly pushed back.

Microsoft nearly lost Windows? by
Yousuf Khan
As we know Microsoft sued Lindows for its name being too close to
Microsoft's Windows. It turns out that Lindows in turn challenged
Microsoft's right to use the term Windows, since it is generic. So the
result? Microsoft ended up paying Lindows $20 million and Lindows will
change its name to...
