Any such thing as Pentium III Celeron? by
Doc
Someone is selling a computer on ebay they're calling a Pentium III Celeron.
Maybe I have a misunderstanding of some issues. I was under the impression
that Pentium and Celeron were 2 different lines of Intel CPU's, the Celeron
being a "lesser" cousin of the Pentium.
If this isn't correct, please...

Anyone running W2K with HT enabled ? by
Jim MacLaurin
Is anyone running Windows 2000 on an Intel HT chipset/CPU capable mobo with
HT enabled? If so, any caveats that I should be aware of (besides the fact
that W2K doesn't use HT effectively, if at all)?
The reason for my question is that I contemplate getting an Intel HT
CPU/mobo replacing my current...

Anyone Windows Hardware With Energy Saving Equal to Apple Mac Mini? by
W[_3_]
I was looking for a server to use as a DNS appliance on a network, and I
wanted to find one that uses a minimum amount of energy. I stumbled on the
Apple Mac Mini. Somehow they have this server working at 15 watts (!) when
not in active use, and during full power on activity the server is...

Anyone with a list of Intel and AMD fabs? by
Dick Trace
I saw a web page comparing the fabs owned by Intel and AMD (name and
number of fabs, fab area, production per quarter, process size, flash
or cpu production, etc).
But the page was written in 2001.
Anyone with an updated list?
I guess this is not TOP SECRET info.
Thanks

Has anyone else encountered a problem using the "old" original anypoint
wireless network and Windows Media player?
I have the network and it works pretty good except one of the computers
using Windows 98 gets an error message from the Anypoint software when

Apple "Core Duo" CPU White Paper by
Bill Davidsen
I have in my hand the Intel white paper for the new Apple CPU. Lower
power, new deeper sleep modes, dual core, reduced clock count on SSE3,
improved branch prediction and cache algorithms, execute disable, larger
L1 cache (than what, not specified, but 32k). Virtualization hardware
present, meaning...

Are 80x86 badly designed processors ? by
Programmershouse
Hello,
Why is x86 badly designed ?
* x86 hasnt enough registers.
* x86 has variable length instructions,
* x86 has mem to mem operands,
* x86 has complex addressing modes,
* x86 is backward compatible with useless features like "real mode" at boot,
etc.
x86 are CISC but RISC processors take more...

Are Intel Chipset INF installer, Application Accelerator needed on XP Pro SP2? by
Aloke Prasad
For the Intel 850 chipset motherboard, these are pretty old (released in
early 2003). Are this still needed (or do they help) on a fresh install of
XPPro with Service Pack 2 ?
I figured that MS would be using the latest information about the chipsets,
IDE drivers etc..with it's latest service...
