P600 Inverts Logical Devices by
Will
On a P600 controller, after rebooting it has inverted all of the logical
device numbers! Drives were ID=0 ID=1 and ID=2. The 0 drive is now 2.
The 2 drive is now 0. How is this even possible?
How can you recover back the original drive order?

Speed of Hardware RAID by
Will
One thing I have noticed recently, as result of the recent discussion on
hardware versus software RAID, is that the two drive LUNs we have created
through the Smart 5i hardware RAID in the DL380 G3 servers we have are
lightning fast by comparison to the same drives mounted JBOD on an...

Adding hd space to a PL3000? by
***** charles
Hi all,
I am trying to set up an addon pci ide card in a
proliant 3000. If I install it with a couple of 250G
ide drives and leave the scsi drives unplugged during
install, then it only boots to the card. If I leave out
the pci ide card and plug in the scsi drives and
install to them, then the...

Proliant 2500 not booting from SmartStart 5.50 CD by
Trojan Hussar
This is a thread I originally posted around two years ago, that time I
found a workaround, this time I can't figure it out.
I have a Proliant 2500 Dual PPro 200, 384Mb, 221 disk controller. The
machine will happily boot from CD and run Knoppix, I can run hardware
tests from UBD3.3 but it...

MSA1000 = MSA500 + Fibre I/O? by
Will
Can the MSA500 be converted into an MSA1000 just by adding a fibre port?
Are there any architectural or performance differences?

Quieter Server? by
Michael Calwell
Hi Folks,
I have a Proliant 3000 running 5.3 RELEASE which makes a noise like a
747 taking off.
I either wish to remove one of the fans, or control them.
Does anyone know if there is a mechanism to do this, including running
Linux binaries?

Proliant 1500, Linux [Slackware, 2.4.26] and memory recognition by
Tomasz Nidecki
Hi, everyone,
I was wondering whether anyone could help me out with the problem of
memory recognition with a recently purchased ProLiant 1500.
I managed to install Slackware 9.1 on it and everything is going smoothly except
for memory recognition. I seem to be unable to make Slackware...

FYI: Compaq ProLiant ML530 G1 and Windows Vista by

Maybe it's interesting for someone (probably not but who knows):
I had some spare time and still found no solution for the service
partition problem I described in another posting so I did the ridiculous
and tested Windows Vista Business on an old ProLiant ML530 Generation 1
server (2x XEON...

Configuring ILO remotely? by

I just was talking with someone who said my most recent server, a ML350 G5
could be booted into BIOS and modified remotely via ILO.
I admit I have no idea how this works so I'd like to explore more. We got
someone at the remote site to plug a cable into the ILO port but beyond that
I have no...

Just How Bad Has HP Support Become? by
Will
We opened up a trouble ticket on a DL380 G2 with a problem rebuilding a RAID
array, and I'm pretty depressed at just how poor HP's service level was.
We had no problems with the $39 out of warranty charge for the call but:
1) They charged $39 twice.
2) No one who dealt with us was fluent in...
