UPS With Hotswap Batteries 2200W or Less by
Will
We use the APC Symmetra UPS in our server room and lab, and I
like it a lot. It has hotswap battery modules that you can just
plug and play. You don't disconnect wires and you don't issue
any commands to put the system in some special mode. The system
autodetects both removal and insertion. ...

Can I have eight hot swap drives in my drive cage? by
Jason Arthurs
The next chapter in the saga of getting this Proliant 3000 up and
running is that I have just purchased four 4.3Gb drives to supplement
the four existing drives.
Whilst I understand that I can only have seven drives and the SCSI
adaptor on the same chain, there are obviously eight slots in...

Power on --- on by
Phil
Nutcracker, or another resident "expert"
I have a slew of dl380's, any easy way to make them start booting/power-up
when power is applied to the power supplies. I didn't see anything in the
setup about power on defaults.
My thought is I have some servers and arrays I want to be able to fire...

RILOE by
[email protected]
Hi,
Has anyone tried installing a RILOE in to a Deskpro EN system? Will it
work?
I know it's not spec'd for it, but I figure if I can use one in my
Prosignia 200 (P166) server it should work.
Thanks,
Doug

SCSI Failure by
ao
Could no longer boot my ML370_G2, it no longer see the Harddisk. I
get the error "SCSI Bios not installed", so it could not see my
Windows partition. I do not know how the Bios could have evaporated.
I get the same error message either with or without RAID controller in
place.
Any idea on how...

Adding RAID to an ML370 or ML350 by
Hank Arnold
We are configuring some ML3x0's for RAID. There are two scenarios:
1) Upgrading an ML370 G2 server that has 6 drives and no RAID. We want to
construct it so that we have a RAID-1 C: drive and a RAID-5+1 (or RAID-10)
D: drive.
2) Configuring a new ML370 G4 (and 350) with 8 drives (using the cage...

Difference Between FCA2210 and FCA2214 by
Will
What is the difference between the Compaq FCA2210 (281540-B21) and FCA2214
(281541-B21)? They both look like QLogic 2340 single port 2 gbit PCI-X
host adapters.

R1500 XR UPS, Fans? by
Bill Crocker
I just acquired a used Compaq R1500 XR UPS. Are the fans supposed to run
constantly, even when it's not running on batteries?
I used to have a very similar APC UPS, but the fans only ran when the power
failed, and it kicked over to battery power.
Thanks,
Bill Crocker

Has anybody successfully set up a Proliant 3000 with floppies? by
Kevin Martin
I'm relativly new to Compaqs and when I got this machine(Proliant 3000
rackmount) a few months ago I booted from SmartStart and followed the
instructions and set it up quite easily.
I wanted to completely change the drive configuration so I figured the
easiest thing to do would be to do a system...

Different AC cord for servers? by
Pelysma
I have a retired 1996-era HP Netserver LX Pro in my garage, which will
probably be recycled and/or parted out when I'm finished playing with it.
Right now we're trying to make it serve a short-term, low-demand database
need. It appears to be operational but there's a small problem: the
connector...

Hello there,
I want to set up my old proliant 400 with 2 scsi hard drives. For the
moment the OS (NT4) is on an IDE drive. When I replace the IDE drive by
the SCSI drive, NT4 setup is stops because no hard drives are found (it is
possible however to install XP). I suppose this is a controller...
