[email protected]
Hi guys,
I am looking to buy a new 19" TFT to replace my ageing 14" Compaq!
Basically i am lookin to spend no more than £180 and require a good
quality monitor that will have a low response time, at least 1280 x
1024 / 75Hz and ideally have a 3 year on-site warranty.
I'd like to use this for web...

19" widescreen or "normal" monitor? by
John
My existing monitor is on its last legs and I'm looking at replacing it with
a 19" LCD but.....
I don't play games and I don't watch DVD movies on my PC so is there any
advantage or benefit to spending a bit extra and getting a 19" widescreen
monitor or am I just as well sticking to the...

1992 Micro House Encyclopedia of Main Boards by
[email protected]
Found in a recycle bin:
1992 Micro House Encyclopedia of Main Boards, Volumes 1 - 4 and R (a
reference quide). I think there's a volume X, an index of some sort,
but I haven't seen it. We're talking ~2000 pages of 286s, 386s, and
486s (and a few 8088s) -- configurations, jumper settings, and...

1GB DDR 400Mhz Memory and memory controller questions. by
Red
Hi All,
Been reading the group for a quite a while, and now its time to ask a
question myself :-)
I recently bought a 1gb stick of DDR 400. Realised too late that I
maybe should have bought 2 x 512 DDR400 so that I had 1 memory
controller working on each 512 stick. This is something I have...

1GB matching DDR vs 1.25GB DDR non matching by
[email protected]
I currently have 2 sticks of 256MB DDR memory in my machine and I want
to increase this to at least 1GB. Am I better off getting two matching
512MB sticks or buying a single 1GB stick and leaving one of the 256MB
sticks in place.
The first scenario gives me a total of 1GB but theoretically...

128meg of memory and a 1Ghz Celeron CPU.

1RU server by
carmoda
Hi,
I have a 1RU rackmount server chassis and i am having trouble fitting a
3Ware RAID IDE card to a Supermicro
Mainboard.
It does not seem to have the necessary clearance from the PCI slots on
the MB to connect the IDE cables to the 3Ware card once the cables are
connected.

1st Daily Start Sound by
[email protected]
Dell Inspiron about 6 yrars old. First startup or waking from sleep,
in a given day, and the CD drive is "jazzed" up then coasts back down
taking a couple of seconds. Makes no difference if the drive has a
disk or not. In the paast I noted this only infrequently, about every
month or so, but now...

1st time bldg a machine: Case, Mobo, CPU, RAM OK? by
[email protected]
This is the 1st time that I have built a machine, so I'm a bit queasy
bout it, but pumped over getting a lot of power for ~$1,000. I am
especially concerned about whether my tentative choices for the case,
mobo, cpu, and RAM look OK. Above-all, I want long-term reliability
with decent power. Will...

1TB hard drive on PATA machine by
Peter Chant[_2_]
Any thoughts?
Existing system is PATA only, PCI & AGP, no PCI-E.
PATA drives seem rare and relatively expensive for the amount of storage you
get and at maximum seem to be 500GB. If I want to upgrade this machine to
1TB the only feasible way looks like external firewire drive plus firewire
card....

I cannot get my comp. to boot when I install the second CD. Worked fine when

BIOS but when XP starts to load, It just hangs at the opening screen for XP.
Both CD's will work when installed alone. I have tried master/ slave,...
