EP45-DS3L: Reboot Loop? by
(PeteCresswell)
Sometimes - not always - this board gets into some kind of loop
where the GigaByte splash screen shows, then it starts booting
again... showing the splash screen again... and booting again.
Can be provoked reliably by plugging a USB drive into the front
panel.
Without the USB device on the front...

Multiple Apps Abending? by
(PeteCresswell)
EP45-UD3L Running 32-bit XP.
Chrome's going out the window on a regular basis.
My IP cam server is biting the big one almost from minute-to-minute.
Avast abends when trying to install DB updates.
I'd upload some screen snaps, but I can't even get Chrome to stay around
long enough, IE is...

Mystery Alarm on EP45-UD3L by
(PeteCresswell)
I get an audio tone from my EP45-UD3L during periods of heavy lifting -
sometimes intermittent, sometimes steady.
Right now, running an app called HandBrake which is transcoding DVD to
..MPEG4 disc-to-disc, the alarm is steady. CPU use is pretty much pegged
in the very high nineties per Process...

GA-Z87X-UD4H: No USB Power? by
(PeteCresswell)
In the process of building up a GA-Z87X-UD4H system, I notice that there
does not seem to be any power available on either the USB2 or USB3
outlets. I have not tried the internal USB3 headers pending purchase
of a 3.5" front panel to use them.
OTOH, on my EP45-UD3L, there is power on all the...

NIC Has Gotten Slow? by

Z87X-UD4H-CF
Been measuring it with a utility that copies a test file to a
destination on another device and back again.
Seems to me like it used to be well into the hundreds of Mbps.
Most recent test showed 15/86 Writing/Reading.
Unplug the Cat5e connector from the GigaByte mobo, plug it into...

Z87X-UD4H-CF: Mix Memory Sizes? by
(PeteCresswell)
Z87X-UD4H-CF mobo, socket 1150 LGA.
Currently have 8 gigs occupying 2 slots (i.e. 2 4-gig memory module)
2 more slots are currently empty.
If I add memory, do I have to add two more 4-giggers?
Or could I, for instance, put an 8-gig module in each of the two
unoccupied slots giving me a total of...

Unable To Get Boot Menu by
(PeteCresswell)
Z87X-UD4H-CF mobo, socket 1150 LGA.
The GigaByte splash screen still says F12 for boot menu, but it's not
happening - keeps going right on to Windows.
Tried Del and got BIOS, but the BIOS menus were different from the last
time I was in there - as if I had somehow accidentally accepted some
sort...

Upgrade from Z87X-UD4H-CF mobo, socket 1150 LGA.? by
(PeteCresswell)
I currently have a Z87X-UD4H-CF mobo, socket 1150 LGA, running at 3.5
GHz with 16 gigs of memory. 64-bit Windows 7, running from a SDD.
The Question:
Has hardware progressed yet to where I could put another mobo/CPU in
this box and reap some response time benefits that I would notice
without...

Mobo Recommendation? by
(PeteCresswell)
I want to replace the Mobo/CPU on a DriveBender box that has been giving
me fits.
My 24-7 PC has a Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H-CF in it.
I am perfectly happy with that board and would buy a second one except
they do not seem tb available.

More Than 6 SATA Ports? by
(PeteCresswell)
Seems like most mobos have six or fewer SATA ports.
The one I'm currently using as a WSH server only has six.
I find that using RAID cards to enable more drives has it's hassles.
When I shop for the next mobo, would I be wasting my time looking for
something with 10 or 12 SATA ports - that...

EP45-U3DL w/XP: Enabling SATA AHCI? by
(PeteCresswell)
When I enable AHCI in BIOS setup, it provokes a boot loop in
which Windows (SP3) throws a Blue Screen Of Death for about a
tenth of a second and then the boot process starts all over
again.
Driver issue?
Somewhere I think I read something to the effect that AHCI had tb
enabled when Windows was...

Socket 775 LGA Mobo w/PCI x4 - That Takes Same Memory As EP45-UD3L by
(PeteCresswell)
I've got an EP45-UD3L, but am thinking about getting one of these
things http://tinyurl.com/32h3xcx to speed things up.
But that's an x4 card.
Is there a GigaByte board with x4 slots that I could recycle my
current CPU and memory into?

I'm thinking about re-building my EP45-UD3L using one of these
http://tinyurl.com/4jo3293 or these http://tinyurl.com/4uzxupl
puppies as the system drive.
Other than the power consumptions, does anybody know what the
diff between them is?
Does using either one sound reasonable?
Caveats?

Mobo With The Most SATA Connectors? (Intel E7400) by

Got an Asus mobo running an "Intel Core2 Duo CPU E7400"... Socket
775LGA.

limited number of mobo SATA connectors are becoming a headache.
This board has six SATA connectors.

Is there anything I can do to get, say, 20+ percent more

Determining CPU Temp? by

Reading the docs for SpeedFan, I get the impression that a
third-party app cannot tell for sure which temperatures are
which.
Is there some GigaByte-specific utility that will tell me the CPU
temp?

EP45-UD3L: Support for 64-Bit Windows? by

I'm reading Giga's specs, but can't find anything that specifically says
64-bit.
Currently running XP and now I need to "Upgrade" to accommodate the
latest rev of SageTV.
Quotes for obvious (?) reasons -)
