Epson R1800 "End of service life warning" by
Frank Arthur
I bought my Epson R1800 in August 2005.
Has been working beautifully producing mostly Epson Premium Glossy prints.
Without warning prints began to come out poorly this morning followed by
the following error message:
"Requires Service
Parts inside your printer are near the end of their service...

Meaning of OEM by
[email protected]
While I know that 'OEM' means ink as supplied by the printer
manufacturer to most people in this newsgroup might I point out that
it means something quite different in the 'computer spares' context in
the UK at least.
What OEM means to me is "as supplied *to* an Original Equipment
Manufacturer". ...

Epson Will Win by
measekite
If Epson wins all of the current litigation (as expected) then many of
the suppliers to the relabelers will not be able to supply them. The
remaining ones that either have not violated patents (or did not get
sued yet) may be able to raise prices.
That is good for the industry since there will...

OEM Versus Hobbicolors ink in Canon Pixma: THE TESTS by
BD
Hey, all.
Recently had a rather discouraging experience with my first attempt at
using Hobbicolors ink.
Background:
I have a second-hand Canon Pixma iP5000, which _had_ a fresh set of OEM
ink.
I also have a *new* iP4000, which is still on its first set of OEM ink.

8 x 10 prints and ink cost by
jonsnow3000
I'm a graphics artist and print a lot of 8x10's. I was wondering what
photo printer would print 8x10's the cheapest per page but be high
quality, especially in printing skin tones. I was looking at the hp
8250, but the cartridges are around 5 ml. I also like the canon 5200(are
small dots better...

Can't unclog print heads on EPSON C84 by
[email protected]
I have an EPSON C84 inkjet printer that's acting exactly like the print
heads are clogged, but I can't get them unclogged. I've run the "clean
heads" program about five times and the test pattern is still messed
up. The color portion of it is full of gaps and the black portion just
won;t print. ...

Lexmark cartridge life by
Newfdog
Hi all.... My lexmark cartridge no 26 no longer prints after about the
6th refill. The ink is flowing freely yet the thing does not print at
all. Do these cartridges eventually burn out?

Epson R300 - "this is not a genuine cartridge" warning by
Anthony Hughes
Does anyone know how to get rid of this stupid stupd warning that comes up
EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU PRINT SOMETHING?? (Sorry for shouting!)
To Epson: I KNOW it's not a genuine cartridge, I bought it. I installed it. I
am grown up enough to take responsibilities for my own actions. I bought it
because...

i9900 and Pixma8500 - opinions please by
Wolf Kirchmeir
The vendors' websites aren't very helpful - they all reprint Canon's
bumf. My question comes down to this:
Is the Pixma 8500 basically a smaller version of the i9900? They both
have 8 tanks, both are 4800x2400 dpi, etc. Main difference sesm to be
that i9900 can print 13'x19' images.
Any...

i950 print head by
no one
I've lost one color and also lost segments for other colors. A new
print head costs $80 or so. I've read that these Canon print heads
don't last long. Is this printer worth this expense or is there a newer
printer that gives better results? If so, which one?
I've never used refill or off brand...

Printer suggestions for X-mas by
[email protected]
Just got a X-mas list. A photo printer was listed.
I've been out of the loop as far as what brands
and models are the best bang for the buck.
Any suggestions on a $100 or less printer that:
1. Seems to be trouble free
2. Has decent photo quality
3. Has a decent price on ink cartridges
4. Is not...

Dye-based third party inks available for Canon PIXMA? by
Lady Margaret Thatcher
We have been unable to decide between a Canon or an Epson photo
printer. We feel that our needs would be well met by an iP8500 or an
R1800, when it becomes available. We see advantages to each printer.
However, we are most concerned about the reported lack of permanence
in pigment-based...

HP G85 Inkjet printer by
Pete
Its been a year or so since I checked this news group. I don't see much
posted on HP printers. I think I know why. I have a HP G85 all in one and
just went over 28,000 copies and never had a problem with it. Pete

I have a Canon IP5000 and recently changed to generic ink. When I do a

maintenance programme example, should it?
I am having problems when printing pictures at the moment that the black

IP4000 vs. IP5000 -- final thoughts by
Sarah Feliz
Okay, so I've actually lined up the 2 side by side and compared a bunch of
photos and graphic files generated by the 2 printers. Here's my take:
contrary to what's been said here, the IP4000 is *not* a better photo
printer. It's in fact the same quality as the IP5000. What's different is
the color...

Refillable Inkjet cartridges for Canon by
DC
I bought some refill ink for Canon i4000. I poked the needle in the ink chamber
and filled it. Easy. When I did the same to photo black the ink started oozing
out the same time from the bottom nozzle pad.
Is the a better technique?

Jet Tec - Everyone's talking about them, they must be good. by
Taliesyn
With "everyone" talking about Jet Tec recently, for no reason
the I could discern. . . I was just checking the manufacturer's
website and saw of couple of things (maybe more) that got my interest...
1. They're Europe's largest manufacturer of cartridges and inks.
2. Jet Tec won the Queen's Award...
