Replacement scanner lamps? by
Dr H
I'm trying to find a replacement bulb for an IBM 0275-001 flatbed scanner,
and have had zip luck locating one either on the Web or over the phone.
On-line searches have turned up mostly places which specialize in home
lighting.
I called IBM's parts and service center and they don't even have a...

Tom McCartney
I have an Athlon palomino XP 1700+ with a MSI motherboard, KT7266 (VIA
chipsets), Win 98 SE. It has been running relatively problem free for about
1.5 yrs, until recently. It had been getting sluggish, with occasional
lockups, so I reformatted the drive and reloaded win 98 SE.
Most of the time...

Half life 2, Valve speaks out about fake benchmark numbers by
Stacey
Looks like the last Nvidia release is worse than people believed?
http://www.tech-report.com/etc/2003q3/valve/index.x?pg=1
From the "real" benchmarks it looks like even the Ti4400-4600 perform pretty
close to or better than their newest in DX8 mode? In Dx9 mode any of them
they appear to be...

XPer
I have a Gateway Pentium4 running XP in a mid tower case. It has 3
3.5" inch bays which I have filled with 3 hard drives. For the second
time one of the HD's (not the boot drive) has gone bad.
I have noticed that when I touch any of the HD's they are extremely
hot and always have been. Like...

Installing 3COM Ethernet card on XP by
Pen
Vance's point was that what you downloaded weren't Xp
files. Normally one would just right click the INF file
and select install, but it doesn't appear any of those files
are for XP.

Trying to buy a new PC, looking for some advice..... by
Ray Lavelle
I am looking for a new PC desktop and came across the HP a250n because
it looks like an excellent value. I am also looking at the Sony VAIO
PCV-RS420, which has similar specs for around the same price. How
good is the HP and how does it compare to the Sony? I also saw the
PowerSpec 9250, which is...

What is the best CPU fan for max cooling? by
Darth Joules
What is THE BEST heat sink fan (and heat sink) for and an AMD CPU?
I like the look of Coolmaster's Areo 7+. it's manual speed control is
a plus, but I've heard it's a bit "buzzy" at full speed. Vantec's
Areocool, the one with a magnetic drive for the fan, looks very good
and I've heard it...

BIOS won't Recognize New Hard Drive by
John in San Diego
I just installed a new master Hard Drive (Maxtor) on my Dell desktop. It's
about 3.5 years old.
Upon entering BIOS, under Primary IDE Master, it says "NONE". It's my only
hard drive installed. It's plugged in correctly, etc.
What'g going on??
TIA!
