Gainward s-video out = hot color flicker by
Erin
I have a Gainward Ti4200 128MB Golden Sample and I use S-video to my
Sony TRV-25 miniDV camera and record myself playing Vice City from my
PC. I want to air this as a segment on my public access television
show.
As I "capture" (import) the miniDV footage it plays well on the
monitors, very crisp...

De-scramble Cable with A PC by
Peter Gottlieb
Let me know in another 10 years how close it is again. By then, for all you
know, real time software MPEG decryption may be commonplace. But not, I
imagine, in, choke, Visual C++. Totally inappropriate to use a high level
language for such a function.

nVidia GeForceFX 5900 Ultra 256MB Shootout by
SST
Looks like ATI is kicking ass.
It funny, the now old 9700 pro with 128Mb of RAM is only a slight bit slower
in real world games that we play then the 5900ultra. Not even worth the
upgrade and the 9800 pro is simply fastest, although still not by much.
Lets hope the next group of cards that come...

Good Entry Level Video Card ($50-$75) by
Harry Muscle
I was wondering if I could get some feedback about a good entry level (ie:
cheap) video card? I don't want to spend more than 50-75 dollars on the
video card. My only requirement is that it can support DVI and TV
connections (as well as a normal VGA connection).
I was looking at the FX5200 (not...

OK Time for a better Vid Card by
Dave
A 1.8 ghz P4 should be fine. Maybe he has one of the cheapy 64 bit memory
bus cards. Maybe drivers aren't loaded properly. What OS and what video
driver are you using, Dennis?
Dave
Strontium stood up, at show-n-tell, and said:
Your CPU/memory is your bottleneck. That card should rock.

It will still be a few months before I "consider" an upgrade and then, and
only then, will this card be retired.

Try pulling that Creative card and run it for a while. I've only ever had

what card should I get for linux (opengl)? by
Francisco
I will use the card in linux, so what is important is opengl performance to
me. I know that some of the fx perform worse than the gf4ti, but the
advantage is that is compatible with directx9, is there any advantage in
opengl?, any benchmarks?
Thank you.

You should have stayed with Nvidia. But I'm very biased that way. Even if
ATI cards totally blew away all Geforces I still would stay with Nvidia. I
have two Nforce computers and two geforce cards. Anything I buy from Nvidia
always works so well, I'm afraid to take a chance on anything else. ...
