I have a Dell Inspiron. It was processing info, My foot hooked on the cord, pulled the laptop off of the shelf, I caught it mid-air upside down and the lid closed. Didn't seem like any damage would be done but wouldn't turn on. NO POWER whatsoever. NO led lights,

Optiplex 170L/E153FPc Monitor by 4poster
My Display started acting strange and gradually ended with it appearing on bootup, or if I power cycled and then would blank out. I was told it could be the power options in Control Panel, which permanently set the monitor in power saver mode, and if I selected "never" for the monitor the PC would...

Replacing Dimension 8200 PSU - advice please by 777
I'm going to replace the 250W PSU in my Dimension 8200 (2.0Ghz - built January 2001 UK) with a 400W. I've googled on this and found a number of worrying reports that due to non-ATX compliance that a standard ATX PSU could fry the mobo. Anyone got a definitve answer as to whether the Dimension...

HELP!! Graphics card problem. by 777
Dell Dimension 8200, with two graphics cards driving 3 monitors: Ti500 driving one DVI LCD (@1600x1200) (AGP) FX5200 driving one DVI LCD and one non-DVI LCD (PCI) The Ti500 failed - I think due to a fan failure; something in the Dell was getting noisy - it stopped getting noisy and then the PC...

noise noise please go away! by 7xchamp
This is on a Dimension 4600, ATI AIW 9000, 60gig Deskstar, Winxp. Well, it seems nobody on earth, (even Dell) cannot find the solution (or what is causing it) to stop that annoying 5-6 sec whirring/screeching/cats tail getting pulled sound. I've disconnected the fan, it still did it. It's not...

OT? Internet Security for my Dell 2400 by [email protected][_2_]
Looks as if I may have to give up computing. I can only afford DIAL UP, which is not conducive to the 'startup' downloading of 90MB's of anti-virus definitions...as PC TOOLS requires Apple is MUCH smarter. "Intego" security software for Apple, offers the downloads, broken down into 5 different...

New 8400 HDD ? by @(remove)Alltel.net
When I purchased my 8400 system a few weeks ago, I configured it to have the 160 GB NCQ Hard drive. Going into the Device manager, the model number shone for my hard drive is a ST3160023AS, is this a NCQ hard drive? I know the Seagate model ST3160827AS has the NCQ but does the model ST3160023AS...

vid card I 6000 by A & L
Can the vid card be replaced (upgraded) on a I6000d? This currently has ATI x300, 64MB and I want to upgrade to 128 MB. I believe that x300 is all this chassis will take. Is this true? Where to get an upgrade card and where are there instructions? I assume the vid card has some proprietary heat...

Warranty: small bus vs Home by A & L
I configured an Inspiron 6000 using both Home and Small Bus. and there's a $100 difference, small bus being cheaper. They both were configured with the basic 1 yr warranty. I'm curious if there is a difference in warranty support as I recall with Gateway the small bus. hours for certain...

inspiron 6000 opinions by A & L
Thinking of getting an Insp 6000 with the dedicated vid card. , Pentium M 1.6 GHz. Was wondering if the fan is really noisy, or if the Centrino systems generally have quieter running. I currently have a Celeron 2.2 GHz laptop (not Centrino) and it is extremely noisy when the fan kicks in. A & L
