View Full Version : How many USB Cams can be used simultaneously?

Greetings...

I suppose if they are enumerated correctly, and the images don't take too much
processing, it should be possible to write the software to handle any number of them
individually, or at least 3 or 4 simultaneously.

Anyone have any experience in this?

For the 3com homeconnect webcam/vicam/io networks webcam there is a driver
at the vicam website that allows six or seven webcams to be used.

Well, I have some source code for Delphi that can access a camera and display it,
writing ASM filters is easy enough. So I was thinking that I could buy a bunch of cheap
cameras (I've found some acceptable performance ones for less than $10 apiece) say 10 of
them, and scatter them around the roof and make my own Intruder alert system...
Heck, I could put one in every room!!

I have successfully stretched that limit in the past using powered USB hubs. Though I've
never run Hub to hub...

I suppose it wouldn't be too very difficult to build an amplifier for the USB signal...
I'll have to try that...
